Basil thrashes his car (Fawlty Towers) Kenton HA3 8HB

One of the most famous scenes in Fawlty Towers, where a frustrated Basil thrashes his car with a tree branch after it fails to start, was filmed in Kenton, near Harrow. The scene, which featured in the ‘Gourmet Night’ episode in 1975, took place on the corner of Mentmore Close and Lapstone Gardens.

It is now the ultimate pilgrimage site for the show's die-hard fans, after Wooburn Grange Country Club in Bucks – the exterior of the real Fawlty Towers – was destroyed by fire in 1991.
